  1. The locust is classeed as a migratory 
  2. INSECT of the short-horned GRASSHOPPER
  3. family. Locust migration is an occasional
  4. event. Under certain environmental
  5. conditions, which also lead to population
  6. increases, young locusts develop into a 
  7. short-winged migratory locust, and gather
  8. in huge swarms, and at maturity take to the
  9. air. The swarms can include more than 
  10. 100 billion insects. When they finally 
  11. settle, the resulting agricultural 
  12. devastation is enormous.
